Our reptiles and amphibians have always been a magnet for school children and students. The Vivarium is fully integrated into science programmes from Early Years to Post-16, providing new generations of young enthusiasts with first-hand revelations into animal behaviour, adaptation and physiology. Those frogs and snakes definitely earn their keep!
We are also working on plans to redevelop the Vivarium, improving the displays and adding new information about the animals. Three key themes will guide the redevelopment: the diversity of the natural world, how animals adapt to their environments and the connections between people and animals. The new displays will highlight concerns about climate change, habitat loss and extinction as well as passing on good news about conservation projects around the world. There will also be tips and contact details telling us all what we can do to help.
