False representations of reptiles and amphibians in the media causes people to fear or distain these wonderful creatures, and it does nothing in the slightest to help their conservation. Over the past few years I have been working with professionals in the media, who share my interest in providing people with a positive and highly educational view of the animals concerned. I have worked with the BBC on several Attenborough ‘Life’ series including ‘Life in Cold blood’ and ‘Human Planet’, and acted as main scientific advisor on the programme ‘Jungles’ for the award winning series ‘Planet Earth’. I think such series have done much to heighten people’s awareness and interest in the natural world, and I am very pleased to be associated with them.
